About Secret Santa

Secret Santa gives each person in a group one secret person to look after or buy a gift for. Enter everyone's name and press Draw names: each person draws one name at random, and nobody draws themselves. The matches never appear on the screen all at once. Pass one phone around so each person taps their own name and checks it alone, or copy a personal link for each name and send it in a messaging app so only that person sees their match. Use it for Christmas gift exchanges at the office, in class, with family or with friends, and for any secret friend game.

Enter 4 or more names. The group name is optional.

The two are separate for each person. You can also send a link to someone who already viewed.

  1. View: hand over the phone

Once they confirm it's them, their match appears and hides itself after 5 seconds.

  2. Share: send a personal link

When the person opens the link and taps to reveal, they see only their own match.

You're done when everyone shows Viewed or Link sent. You can copy links again until you leave this page.

FAQ

How many people can join?
From 4 to 30. With 2 or 3 people, knowing your own match is enough to work out everyone else's, so the minimum is 4. Even with 4, keep in mind that knowing your own match leaves only a few possibilities for the rest.
Can I draw myself?
No. Nobody ever draws themselves, everyone gets exactly one person, and everyone is drawn by someone. When you press Draw names, one of all the possible arrangements is picked at random, each with the same chance.
How does it work with one phone?
In the name list, press View next to your name and answer Yes when asked if it's you. Your match appears and hides after 5 seconds or when you press Hide. Your name then shows Viewed and can't be opened again on this phone. Then pass the phone to the next person.
Can I send matches by link instead of meeting up?
Yes. Press Share next to a name to create a personal link that holds only that person's match, and the name changes to Link sent. Send it to that person in a messaging app or by text, and they open the link and tap to see their match. It's their own link, so they can open it again any time, and Resend next to Link sent sends the same link once more.
Can I still send a link after someone viewed on the phone?
Yes. View and Share are separate. You can later send a link with the same match to someone who already looked on the phone, and someone who got a link can still view once on this phone. Viewing on the phone works once per person.
Are the matches saved?
No. Matches are not saved on a server or in your browser; they only exist on the current screen. If you reload or leave the page, they are gone and you need to draw again. Turning on Remember players keeps only the names on this device. No sign-up or install is needed.
Can someone peek at another person's match?
Some things can't be prevented. Looking over someone's shoulder, taking a photo of the screen or pressing someone else's name on purpose can't be stopped, and the organizer who copies a link can open it too. Agree beforehand that it's a game played on trust.
I forgot who I drew.
Viewing on the phone works only once. Ask the organizer to send your personal link with Share next to your name, and you can open it any time. Starting over gives everyone a new match, so be careful.
What kind of site is Totle?
Totle is a free website of luck-based mini games that works instantly, with no sign-up or install. Use the ladder game, roulette wheel, drawing lots (gacha capsules), card draw, dice, turtle race and team split to fairly decide who goes first, who does a chore, who gets a penalty or who wins a prize.
